I remember when the 386 chip first came out. Too expensive for desktops. I remember when the 486 chip first came out. Too expensive for desktops. I remember when the pentium first came out. Too expensive for desktops. I remember when the Xeon first came out ... If there is anything we can learn from this is that: 1. Eventually, the costs do come down. At that point the servers will become desktop systems and there will be a new generation of servers. 2. Eventually, you *WILL* need the power. Will you compete effectively if you are still using a 80286?
