  I'm using msvcrt.dll 6.00.8797.0 and mfc42.dll 6.00.8665.0 without incident
here. I didn't place them by hand. More likely they where placed when internet
explorer or maybe a VC service pack was installed. For me the key was to remove
mfc42.dll, msvcrt.dll, shlwapi.dll, msvcirt.dll, and mfc42loc.dll from the
?:\ChessBase\Fritz6 directory. i.e. to help insure the files located in
c:\windows\system are used.

Just a thought,
