Subject: CM8000 replying immediately at tournement level,even when out of book

When I attempted to  play CM8000 at the tournement rate of 40 in 120 it played
the whole game responding immediately to my moves even when it was out of book
knowledge.The level of play even at blitz speed was appaling.In checking the
standard of play of the other levels it was hard to describe it as barely more
than random moves.I retuned to the chess shop and found that the whole
consignment is behaving the same.I am running it on a P3 750 Windows 98Are there
any solutions to this problem.I am an I.M. in Correspondence Chess and a
professional chess coach and would not recommend it to my students.I have all
the previous versions of CM and I am quite happy with them.Thanks in advance
