Just finished a series of 20 rated games vs different personalities in CM8. They were played on a PIII 800 with 40 moves in 40 minutes. After winning 1 game against Roxy (1965), who played a very strange and weak chess, I played J.T (2733) once and 2 games vs Alekhine, Anand, Anderssen, Bird, Blackburne, Bogoljubow, Botvinnik, Capablanca and Euwe. All of these GM personalities seem to have the same rating - 2861 - on my computer. They do not show the same playing strength and in my opinion the average rating should be lowered at least 300 points. Now, these 20 games gave me a performance rating of 2688 which also seems to be some 3-400 points too high. For the record I'll mention that the time management seemed to be okey. Didn't notice any immediate replies when out of book - or any extraordinary fast play. The following game is played vs Chessmaster with hash 64 MB. It's a non rated rapid game 40 moves in 10 minutes. CM used about 6 minutes for the game but lost surprisingly easy. This game makes me wonder if something is wrong, cause I really shouldn't be able to treat CM8 this way.
