Indeed. The commitee will need to decide in cases of multiple solutions
if one of the solutions are too easy.

Here is the ECM book line:
[FEN "8/6Bp/6p1/2k1p3/4PPP1/1pb4P/8/2K5 b - - 0 1"]

1... b2+ 2. Kc2 exf4! 3. Bxc3 f3 4. Be1 Kd4 5. Kxb2 Kxe4 6. Kc2 Ke3
Looks ok unless I've missed something. It's nice to own the book. :-)

Yes they both work.

[FEN "r4rk1/ppq3pp/2p1Pn2/4p1Q1/8/2N5/PP4PP/2KR1R2 w - - 0 1"]

1. Rxf6 Rxf6 2. Rd7 Rg6 3. Qe7 Qc8 4. Qf7+ Kh8 5. e7 Qg8 6. Qxg8+! Rxg8
7. Ne4 h6 8. Nc5

This works.

Here is the mainline from the book.

[FEN "r1b2rk1/2q1bppp/p1n1p3/1p1np1P1/5P2/1NNBBQ2/PPP4P/R4RK1 w - - 0
1"]

1. Bxh7+ Kxh7 2. Qh5+ Kg8 3. Rf3 Nxf4 4. Bxf4 Bxg5 5. Bxg5

This looks good. I'm finding that other defensive trys fail also.
White seems to have too much force directed towards the king.

If 3 ... g6 4.Qh6 Bd6 5.Ne4 f5 6.exf6 Rxf6 7.Rg3 looks ok but
more input would clarify this line.

The mainline from book works.

[FEN "r1b2r1k/ppppq1pp/2n1n3/6N1/2B2P2/4B3/PPP3PP/R2Q1RK1 w - - 0 1"]

1. Nxh7 Kxh7 2. Qh5+ Kg8 3. f5 Ne5 4. fxe6 Rxf1+ 5. Rxf1 Nxc4 6. Qf7+
Qxf7
7. exf7+ Kf8 8. Bd4

Here is the d6 defensive try from book.

[FEN "r1b2r1k/ppppq1pp/2n1n3/6N1/2B2P2/4B3/PPP3PP/R2Q1RK1 w - - 0 1"]

1. Nxh7 Kxh7 2. Qh5+ Kg8 3. f5 d6 4. Rf4 Ne5 5. Bb3
The book stops here with +- but the following seems to confirm
the accuracy of the "+-"

 g6 6. fxg6 Rxf4 7.
Bxf4 c5 8. Bxe5 dxe5 9. Rf1

Is there a better defensive try here?
