I was trying to give a rough idea of the strength of my engine
if anybody wants to download it. As you can see in my statement,
I did not affirm anything. Will Gaviota be weaker in
equal hardware? most probably. Maybe it is weaker already even with a 4x faster
hardware. I just described what I saw as an indication of strength
in FICS. I can only affirm that it is weaker than Amyan. That is
based on observation of the games. Even though Gaviota scored 1.5/4
was totally outplayed.
(BTW, it was a lot of fun talking with the author of Amyan at the same
time the engines played, the engines do the dirty work while you
enjoy the chat :-) Hope we can kibitz one day, are you operating it?)

I'd love to play enough games, but this is just a hobby for me.
I will have to economize resources and trust in my observation
mostly. Doing a lot of statistics it would be good when I have
a strong program (if I ever have one, which I doubt). Now is weak and I can
certainly say when it is doing something wrong and why. Besides, It would be
very difficult at this point to ditch something good or keep something bad.
It has almost nothing :-)

Miguel
