If you would write a letter to someone you do not know well, personally, you would not make jokes, and when you write to someone who knows you personally and well, he/she would understand your humor. Here (Internet/Usenet) we talk to strangers, even from other cultures, and know next from nothing about the others. So humor recognition is a problem. That was easy. Next question? ;-) Heiner
