I don't regret having kids, and while I think that it's possible that someone
could regret having done it, I haven't met anyone who will tell me that.

The first one is a kick in the teeth, but compared with what comes later it is
easy. If the kid does something weird you simply pick it up and tell it to
knock it off. I used to know some great ways to lug around a kid who was trying
to bite or kick me, or who has simply had a full-on nervous breakdown and can't
control himself.

The second one is rough, because you can't just pick two up at the same time.
And they are always running in opposite directions, so there is the matter of
catching them. And neither feels that they are getting enough attention, so
they try to kill each other.

I don't think that the third one isn't that much different if you've survived
having two. I think it's smoother since everyone realizes that the attention
thing is hopeless, since they have to kill two siblings in order to improve
their situation markedly, and that's hard to do.

This will be our fourth one. I'm expecting it will be similar to having three.

Our oldest one knows how to cook, and is going to learn to clean toilets soon.
The current youngest knows how to fire up the dish washer, but I have to load it
for him. He also waters our pet cockroach. The middle one won't do anything
yet, but I'm still hoping she'll get a clue. Maybe I can get her to read
bedtime stories to the younger ones.

Eventually I'm going to send them out to get jobs, then I can start turning a
profit on this.

My wife is somewhat bothered by my attitude.
