No comparison. Chest blows its doors off. But, if you just want to understand a simple way to test for checkmates and you like Pascal, they it is worth a look. There is nothing that compares to chest anywhere for standard mate searching. The ones that they sell are not nearly so good. No, they are comically inferior. If you want to search for non-tablebase checkmates that are optimal, chest is the answer to that question. The only viable alternative for chest is Popeye, and that only because it processes fairy chess problems. So if you like fairy chess, there is popeye. Else, use Chest.
