Go up one level in this thread
I believe it is not even close. It seems all programmers have a problem with making their programs play down to the "average players" level. For example I played Chess Tiger 13 on the "Beginner Level 1" against Fritz 6 and after 20 games the ELO difference showed Fritz up by 120 points (Blitz games). So this would make Chess Tiger 13 about 2900 Blitz on the Beginner level 1. Next I tried to play Fritz on ICC as a "Free" account. You have to keep your rating under 1800 to do this. I set Fritz on the "Fun & handicap" mode and set the rating at 1350. This did not work because Fritz would constantly go over 1800 on ICC. So to stay under 1800 I had to also increase the Blunder range and decrease the Kings defense to make Fritz stay under 1800. I finally gave up because 1300 players kept trying to beat the computer account and made the rating go over 1800 again. At that point ICC killed my account for going over 1800 so I never did find the right settings to make it play 1600-1800. Jim
