What I was saying was that in trying to keep the rating under 1800 (1600-1800) many 1300 players (meaning in the 1300-1400 range)played it and raised the rating up so when a 1700 player played and lost it went over. I did not stop 1800 players from playing it. I was trying to find a setting which kept it in the 1600-1800 range and the lower rated players made it difficult. Also several people will play the machine and resign early. I think they are "sandbagging" for what reason I don't know. Maybe there are prizes in some of the tournaments held on ICC. I never entered one. That free account was very busy. There are very few computer accounts in the 1600-1800 range and mostly people rated below that are playing the computer trying to raise their ratings I guess. It was an experiment that failed because ICC did not give me enough leeway / time to find the right settings. This was mostly due to the fact that the rating numbers in Fritz are so far off from ICC/blitz. Jim
