That isn't a very easy question to answer.

For "best game" several come to mind:

1. The game where Cray Blitz won the 1983 WCCC in the final round by
defeating Belle.

2. The game where Cray Blitz won the 1986 WCCC in the final round by
defeating HiTech, the pre-tournament shoo-in to win.

3. We had a match on chess.net a couple of years ago with 4 computers and
4 GM players (Christiansen, Yasser, Roman and I don't remember the 4th). In
one game Crafty reached an opposite bishop ending that I was afraid was going
to be a draw (crafty was a pawn up). It won that game and two GMs commented
that during that game, it played as well as a human top-10 player.

As far as heart-crushing defeats, the game that most stands out is the game
we lost to deep thought (Cray Blitz) in Orlando Florida at the 1987 or 1988
ACM event. We were winning, and had found a crushing move, but due to some
never-before-seen parallel search bug, we failed high on a "lemon" and played
it and lost outright. We re-ran that position hundreds of times and it always
played the right move. Later when we moved to a faster machine with more
processors, we discovered it would fail frequently and I finally found and fixed
the bug. several years after it was first seen.
