I think you can change things ok in Crafty without starting a new game. If you want to dumb Crafty up real fast in Winboard, you can hit "Alt 1" and enter a very low search depth like "sd=3" or something. You might want to consider being able to set up 10 or so profiles for Crafty, and Freeboard could randomly choose between them without notice (when in the random mode) so you'd have some control over the insanity, or is that basically what you're saying? Being able to control the bounds of it's randomness would make it more palatable to many. Pete
