I'm currently using a PC with 512 Mb of RAM. However, I find that some programs only make so much use of this: Junior 6a 128Mb max If I set it to be 256Mb, it automatically sets itself to be 127Mb. Gambit Tiger 192 Mb max I don't think I get the option of setting it to be any higher than this. Shredder 5 128 Mb max If I set it to be 256Mb, the "hash used" starts to report negative values eventually!? Does anyone else agree with these limits? Is is because further increases won't result in any significant benefits? I have no other apps running on the PC, only one chess program at any given time; my table base cache is set to 32Mb. Gordon
