I do not consider players who know the rules but do not compete in tournaments
or players with rating below 1500 as serious chess players.

I do not have a clear definition in my mind of serious chess players but I know
that most of the good players like Fritz when I read from posts of other people
that chessmaster is practically the most popular program.
