Dear CCC, With all this concern at present about conserving electricity I think that the use of end game table bases is the best method to approach the problem of long end game searches with a total of seven or less pieces on the board. The prior problem in the post regarding two white bishops against a black knight and a pawn demonstrate this very well. Crafty 17.xx got the solution immediately, even though it announced a mate in 72. Gambit Tiger solved the problem eventually after 26 minutes and my help as arbiter. GT could not solve the full problem if left to run on and on and on........for over a week. This is the strongest and best argument for EGTBs. Tim "Save the Electrons" Frohlick
