If you make a competition with the same group and whales about diving, the whales could maybe win but also the penguins could have chances. In contests of flying and diving the birds could win ! Whales have no good chances in flying through the air-. Also penguins would not fly very good. A fast program profits even more from a faster machine than a slow program. A slow program profits from a slower platform (if BOTH have to use the slow machine of course !!!!). So: giving ONE program a faster machine (fritz) advantages the faster program much. Giving the faster program the slower machine does not give it disadvantages this high like the slow program would have against the faster machine. I hope my point is understandable. If I would take 2x 386-12 PC's and let hiarcs and fritz run on both, I guess hiarcs would have better chances ... Of course these results would NOT reflect the exact playing strength. So : if you offer a fast program a faster machine will produce results that you cannot really relate to those given to hiarcs on a faster machine.
