Go on small boards, such as 9x9, is hard for computers as well. Heck, even I'd beat a Deep Blue caliber go-computer on it any day :-) It does appear, in case of Shogi for example, that a chess-like game becomes harder for computers if it has a larger branching factor (relative to human experts).
