I think the objective is to test Deep Fritz and not Crafty 18.x. Crafty 17 has a
known rating. Thus you can calculate a rating for Deep Fritz from the result. If
you test two unknown programs against each other, it is impossible to calculate
a calibrated rating! You get only a result such as Deep Fritz is 50 ELO (SSDF)
points better than Crafty 18, but you will not know, whether Deep Fritz is
stronger or weaker than Fritz 6, for example.
