Since I live in a remote rural area, I play against my programs quite a bit.
There are some advantages to this. There is no waiting for an opponent, and no
bad sportsmanship to deal with either.

Ahh yes, well at least you aren't out drinking... At least, that's what I tell
my wife :-).

But seriously, you can look at this another way. Everyone here is subsidizing
R&D to advance the state of the art in computer chess playing algorithms and
analysis software, so you should feel good about your habit.
