Apparently, there are non-English (and possibly unofficial) versions of the program running around that the development team was not aware of. Therefore, the patch does not work properly on them. The development team made the patch assuming that ONLY the English version existed. So, the short answer is: YES, do NOT run the patch if you have a non-English version of Chessmaster 8000, until further notice. The development team has sent out some queries, and hopefully I'll have something for you relatively soon (two or three days). Our apologies, jm
