Unfortunately, all I can say is that it says right in the ReadMe and FAQ that CM8000 requires the CD at all times. I'm sure you are nowhere near alone in your complaint, but this decision was made a few levels above the development team, and they are WELL aware of the customer complaints. Whether they will affect future versions of Chessmaster remains to be seen. I agree with you, but sadly that's just the way that it is. jm
