Subject: CM8k patch problem - custom board won't work

Author: William Penn

After applying the patch, the custom chessboard won't work properly anymore.
Note that I only use the 2D custom board with the figurine chess pieces in the
Game Room.

When attempting to load a layout which I had setup and saved before applying the
patch, it showed multiple overlapped custom chessboards (a mess) without any
chess pieces. While playing around with it, trying to restore the custom board
and pieces, trying to redefine the setup, trying to save and load the layout
from disk, etc., I either get a fatal system error message:

"Chessmaster caused an invalid page fault in module ANIM8.DLL at..."

or

when CM is started-up initially, or the layout is loaded from disk, the custom
chessboard is empty (no chess pieces).

I wondered if the patch had downloaded properly. My first patch download gave
cm8k101.exe, 618,925 bytes. So I redownloaded the patch to see if the number of
bytes was the same. It's the same.

So, I suppose I'll have to uninstall/reinstall CM8k then apply the patch again.
That should indicate whether there was some kind of anamolous corruption of my
original CM8k installation that's causing the problem. I'll report back later...
