That seems to work OK in my preliminary tests, i.e. simply avoid the custom
board, which doesn't work with the patch.

There's a possible new problem though...

In Game Room, infinite time, with a human vs human game in progress:

Even without any special user windows open, there is one king engine active as
indicated by the Ctrl-Alt-Delete task window.  There is no reason for it to be
open in a human vs human game! I don't think it should be open.

Then if the Visual Thinking window is opened (Chessmaster button selected), or
the Thinking Lines window (Chessmaster box checked), a second king engine is
activated. With two king engines running simultaneously, that will greatly slow
things down.  It makes use of those special windows impractical.

Only one king engine was open with the original CM8k in this situation, so the
patch has apparently introduced a new bug in that regard.
