This is not a bug. The "garbage characters" that you are seeing are would show up as the figurine notation characters if you displayed the text in the Chessmaster font. This text is the "summary" text that you can see if you go to the "Auto-Annotation" tab in the Annotation window and move the game back to the starting position. cm
