I didn't have (intentionally) other programs working in the background, but TaskInfo shows many processes being run and some of those are started automatically by Windows, I guess. Oh, there is a printer process running to handle my NEC Laser printer--that causes a small status window to be maintained in the background (on my desktop screen). As far as resource limits--my CPU is 500Mhz AMD K6-2, but I have no video card installed (only using native motherboard and installed 256KB RAM resources?), although there is a place for one I believe (I simply chose not to buy one when I had the system put together for me). Seems to work fine usually, but ... could this be such a resource limiting factor? Any way to test your conjecture? What might be the ultimate solution? Thanks, --Steve
