Thanks for the suggestion.  I have *no* video card installed, but could there
perhaps be updated drivers for the motherboard, or for communicating with my
specific monitor model?

Monitor was purchased 4-5 years ago, with another CPU--it was originally a Sony
CPU with Sony Monitor.  Now using a store built 'generic' PC with the original
Sony Monitor.

Maybe I need to add a video card, which I didn't want at the time I acquired the
newer CPU (approx 1 year ago).

Thanks for the tip and in advance for any added info you may have on my
situation.
