In the game ChessMaster8000 against Eugen7.92, the new and patched Chessmaster
had a to fight against a new version of Eugen. It seems this new version had a
bug. the program crashed 3 times and it would have been impossible to continue
this game with this executable. I emailed eugenio and asked for help, he said
that
he could recompile it with different setting, and send a recompiled version,
but it was the same with this version too. 2 crashes and no chance to continue
the game. therefore i used an older version of eugen, with the date from
16-08-2000.
We knew this was a stable version and from the same position chessmaster
left opening i continued the game with THIS older eugen version.
The whole game eugen played very fine and it would have made a draw until, in
the endgame, it made a big mistake and gave away the chances for a draw, and
lost.
it seems endgames are still the problem of some amateur programs. and also of
some
professional programs. i wonder why there is not much progress in this stage of
the
game/field too.
the game hiarcs versus mchess, an old classics, was little better for mchess.
in the end mchess decided to make a draw.
in the moment i am playing Rebel-century3 against Patzer3.11b.
Patzer plays as usual with the hiarcs7.32-book.
So far both programs feel themselves a little better.
+0.34 says rebel. It has castled and nearly all pieces are somehow
developed, although no white pieces has overstepped the 3rd rank.
Black, in opposite, has not castled, has played aggressively g5 and Nh6-g4
and patzer feels +0.51 and wants to play h5 !
I guess patzer wants to attack rebel heavily on the king side and we will see
an interesting game.

In der Partie ChessMaster8000 gegen Eugen7.92, hatte der frisch
updatete ChessMaster gegen eine brandneue Version von Eugen anzutreten.
Leider sieht es so aus als ob diese Version noch ein wenig
zu neu ist, denn sie stürzte im Verlauf der Partie gleich 3 mal ab.
Eine Anfrage beim Programmierer ergab, das er das Programm nochmals
als ganzes kompilieren müßte, was er dann tat. Doch auch dies
verbesserte das Durchhalteverhalten des Programms nicht. Nach 2 weiteren
Abstürzen war klar, ich mußte eine ältere Version nehmen. Die Version
aus der ersten Runde, datiert vom 16-08-2000 war, das wußte ich, eine
stabile.
Die ganze Partie über spielte Eugen sehr schön, zum Endspiel dann hätte er
eigentlich ein Remis in der Tasche gehabt... doch es kam anders.
Eugen verpatzte das Remis und verlor noch. Schade.
Sieht ganz danach aus das Endspiele immer noch - jedenfalls für so manches
Amateurprogramm - ein Problem darstellen. Naja - auch für manche Profi-
programme.
In der Partie Hiarcs7.01 gegen Mchess8 fühlte sich Mchess8 eine ganze
Zeit lang euphorisch im Vorteil. Im Endspiel dann nahm Mchess lieber ein
Remis, als gar keinen Vorteil mehr. Naja- was man hat, hat man.
Im Augenblick spielt Rebel-Century3 gegen Patzer3.11.
Patzer spielt, wie von Roland empfohlen, mit dem Hiarcs7.32-buch.
Beide Programme fühlen sich leicht im Vorteil. Rebel mittlerweile
sogar mit +0.41. Century3 hat rochiert. Alle Figuren stehen entwickelt
zumindest auf der 2 und 3 Reihe. Anders Patzer. Kühn noch nicht rochiert,
schon den g5 und h5 Bauern vorgezogen, einen Springer frech von h6-g4
platziert und computerklassisch die Dame schon mal keck auf B6 gestellt
harrt schwarz darauf weiß einzustampfen.
Merwürdig dabei ist: mit h5 hat Patzer sich noch mit +0.51 im Vorteil
geführt, nach Db6 aber sagt er jetzt selbst: weiß steht besser.
das sind natürlich extreme Schwankungen in der Bewertung die den Spielaufbau
hier stark beeinflussen. Kurios jedenfalls.

Wird Rebel das ganze Positionell nach Hause fahren, oder
findet Patzer doch noch einen Weg aus seiner unorthodox dreinschauenden
Stellung. Oh Gott, jetzt kam auch noch Tb8 !
Ich glaube ich spinne. Was ist das denn ?
Rebels Bewertung hüpft sofort auf +1.10 an.
Hm.
Da sag noch einer Computerschach sei nicht aufregend.
