Apart from reading the FAQ, which was suggested elsewhere and is definitely a good idea, getting the patch will fix this problem. Believe it or not, there were some time zones (two of which were in Australia) which caused the GUI/engine security code to fail. Getting the patch will alleviate this bug (and many others!). Just go to www.chessmaster.com and click on "Downloads", then click on the "Upgrade" link for CM8000. Make sure you verify which version you have, though. This is important! jm
