Subject: Chess Madness 2001 - a madly thrilling final round

Hi all,

close to the end of the final round, here are the standings of my current big
tournament, Chess Madness 2001.
Time control is 40/120 on two PIII-550, 256 MB, no autoplayer:

Group A:
  1. Chess Tiger 13.0 5.5 (26.0)
     Hiarcs 7.32 5.5 (26.0)
  3. Gandalf 4.32f 5.0*
     Shredder 5.0 5.0
     Deep Fritz 5.0
  6. SOS 11/2000 2.0*

If Gandalf wins its final game against SOS, Gandalf and Hiarcs qualify for the
semifinals (since Hiarcs scored 1.5/2 against Gandalf while Tiger only scored
1.0/2). If Gandalf draws, SB points will decide between the top 3, with Hiarcs
probably taking #1. If Gandalf loses, Tiger and Hiarcs qualify (and a coin toss
will determine who is #1).

Group B:
  1. Gambit Tiger 1.0 6.5
  2. Junior 6.0a 6.0
  3. Nimzo 8.0 5.0*
     Rebel Century 3.0 5.0*
  5. Chessmaster 8000 3.0***
  6. Chess System Tal 2.03 0.5***

Gambit wins the group. If Nimzo wins its last game, SB points will decide if
NImzo or Junior takes #2 (with the result of Rebel-CM also influencing this).
If CM wins its last 3 games, again SB points decide between CM and Junior (and
possibly Nimzo). Rebel cannot qualify anymore since it has lost the direct
comparison with Junior.

Note: Gambit and Nimzo are the only undefeated programs. Junior lost twice to
Gambit this time. Gambit lost only one of its 13 games at standard - against
Junior, BTW.

All games so far, including PGN, can be found on

http://sccs.shep.de

Final results will be posted here and to the Rebel board as they come.
