Problem with cygwin is the dependency on the translation dll, and also we have to note that full optimizations is far from optimal with the gcc compiler(Im waiting for gcc-3.0 where egcs is the base). But even so it is slower, have you tried the mingw32 post of gcc? No dll overhead there. Regards Dan Andersson
