This I agree with.  In last year's kkup, Crafty was lost against Diep
by choosing a bad opening and playing a pawn down the whole game.  In
the CM5000 game it was lucky, in that the score before the famous knight
sac was -.5, and it went for a draw that turned into a crushing win with
more depth.

In this tournament, *every* game started off in a reasonble position
after
leaving book, except for the Hiarcs game which started off in what was
probably a winning position since Hiarcs sacrificed a pawn in the
opening.

Whether it plays better than Paris remains to be seen, but from my
perspective, it has been playing high-quality chess at this extreme
search
depth, rather than some of the silly moves I have seen in the past...

Been meaning to ask Jason.  He's been waiting on a move for a long time
now...  Maybe the Rebel operator is on some sort of vacation, or

else...

I agree.  And it seems that the quality of play goes up substantially at
this long time control, so that the chess actually looks reasonable for
the
most part...
