In last year's kkup, Crafty was lost against Diep by choosing a bad opening and playing a pawn down the whole game. In the CM5000 game it was lucky, in that the score before the famous knight sac was -.5, and it went for a draw that turned into a crushing win with more depth. In this tournament, *every* game started off in a reasonble position after leaving book, except for the Hiarcs game which started off in what was probably a winning position since Hiarcs sacrificed a pawn in the opening. Whether it plays better than Paris remains to be seen, but from my perspective, it has been playing high-quality chess at this extreme search depth, rather than some of the silly moves I have seen in the past... >Anyone know why the Crafty vs Rebel game is so delayed? And it seems that the quality of play goes up substantially at this long time control, so that the chess actually looks reasonable for the most part...
