Mr. Dahlem,

I am going to be getting a 1.2 Ghz AMD with 256 MB RAM with a nice 22 inch
monitor sometime this year. There is no hurry because the front side bus speeds
on the newer machines will soon be up to and past 800 Mhz.

The best route is to get a nice monitor and be frugal with your CPU. If you get
a nice jumbo multisync monitor that runs on both PC or MAC platforms then you
have a nice investment with maximum flexibility. The NEC 6020 is a nice big
monitor with a five year warranty. Big monitors with dot pitches of 0.22mm will
let you run two or three screens at the same time without eyestrain.

If you really want to be cheap then just get a used PII 333 for about $100.00
and put a big 20 to 60 Mbyte hard drive on it.
