But I have always heard that SMP >programs don't do as well as the non SMP versions on single CPU computers. I did not hear it. Chessbase claims that Deep Fritz has knowledge that Fritz6 does not have and the fact that Deep Fritz is an SMP programs proves nothing because you can choose the number of proceessors to use. Deep Fritz is not similiar to Deep Junior when I read that you cannot choose the number of processors to use and in this case Deep Junior is slower than Junior6. I know that the ssdf test Deep Fritz on one processor and they do not do it with Deep Junior. The reason is clear. There was no point in testing Deep Junior on a single CPU when nobody claimed that it is stronger than Junior6 but there is a point in testing Deep Fritz on single CPU because we need to know if deep fritz is better. I know that testers like Enrique claimed that Deep Fritz is better than Fritz6a(Enrique claimed about 20 elo better). You can see also Deep Fritz's good result against nimzo8 in the ssdf games so I guess that Deep Fritz is going to be number 1 in the next list. Uri
