CM 5000 I think, if properly tested,(which it cannot be since it is not
auto 232 compatible),would rank on par with the the Big 5. i do not
think the SSDF rating is an indication of its true strength. I have
played a no. of games between CM 5000 vs Genius 4, Fritz-Hiarcs,
Fritz4/5, virtual chess and I have found that CM can easily hold its own
against H6, G4 and F5, without any problems. Its cost has nothing to do
with its playing strength.CM 5000 is based on the The King engine of
Johann de Konnig who has decided to take the mass market route to making
his money. I am sure he is doing pretty well from his liason with
mindscape. there is one question which i have wondered about is: Why
does the SSDF not test the DOS version of THE King which being DOS
should be Auto 232 compatible? Maybe someone from SSDF can answer that.
