It shows that CSTal's positional range can be drastical. I don't tell you a secret when I say that the above value is only the peak of the iceberg. Tal can value much higher... The position also shows very good from my point of view how much John has increased the strength of Zarkov ! I can only congratulate him for the progress in Zarkov ! I remember that I always bought Zarkov from Gambit-Soft. I don't remember the versions. Long time ago. Zarkov was always very high valued by us because of its many freak-features (The learning feature was sometimes misused by us when we cheated for fun when Herr Haumann visited us. He often came with special positions very difficult to find the key move. We tuned Zarkov by enter the key move and giving a high-value to help it a little !) , e.g. the link to dedicated machines (saitek link) and and and Although the old versions played very often strange way positionally (Bd6 and strange structures), we had much fun. Today Zarkov is a very good playing program, also positionally. maybe in a few years zarkov is the champion on a world-chamionship ?! >M-Chess 7.1 = -3.03 >Shredder 2 = -2.81 The position seems to measure positional playing strength very good. >Comet A85 = -2.33 Also Comet is stronger in the last time. Maybe it has increased positionally terms and your position measures it, Torsten ! >Gromit 1.2 = -2.12 >CM5000 = -2.07 >Hiarcs 6 = -1.96 I like the way your position rankes the programs ! >Kallisto AEGON = -1.75 >Patzer 2.99z9 = -1.59 >Diogenes 4.11 = -1.40 >Rebel 9 = -1.36 >Genius 5 = -1.30 >Corel Chess 1.0 = -1.28 >Junior 4.6 = -1.20 >Socrates 3 = -1.13 >Fritz 5.01 = -1.06 >W-Chess 1.04 = -0.96 >TCB 0035 = -0.72 >Crafty 14.5 = -0.68 >Tjes 0.1.02 = -0.57 > > >Obvioulsy Nimzo98 is fast but not stupid. "stupid" is a very indifferent word. Surely the positional values Rebel9 gives is less than e.g. Nimzo gives.
