Hi, Claude Shannon has passed away. Shannon was one of the true greats of the 'first age' of computing, and amoung his many contributions was the first real paper on how a computer might play chess. http://www.bell-labs.com/news/2001/february/26/1.html Thanks to SlashDot for the news and link. Peter p.s. Don Bradman (greatest cricket player ever, daylight second) also passed away a couple of days ago.
