I haven´t had any problems with getting the R9-autoplayer to work with
Fritz 5. The only problem with R9 that I have had is to install it.
Usually it fails the first time ( sometime during the installation it
says "0 files copied" or it can´t find some path ). When this happends I
just delete the R9 directoty and reinstalls it. So far everything has
worked fine after the second or third installation.

I will try again and if I can get it to work, and if it works I will let
you know.
