Subject: PGN Manager 1.2.1 is now available

The latest version of the software is now available from
http://home.earthlink.net/~esuastegui/eschess, under the PGN Manager
section.

Version 1.2 now contains the following enhancements:

1) Filter by position: A new filter option, 'position=pgn_file', has
been
added to the -f FILTER command. The software will attempt to locate
games in a PGN database which contain the same position as the end
   position in the pgn_file game.

2) Set ECO classification enhancement: Previous versions of the software

attempted to match by locating entries in the specified ECO database
which contained the same moves as the first N moves in a given game.
This approach was somewhat deficient in that it did not account for
   transpositions, i.e., 1.d4 d5 2.c4 Nf6 is the same as 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4
d5, but the software will only find a match before if the exact move
sequence was located. The new version searches by position, and seems
to more accurately locate ECO codes. In addition, this process ismuch
faster now, since a look-up table is used for fast searches. However,

as before, the quality of the ECO database used is important. The
ECODB.PGN database used during testing seems to ommit some important
lines, so that classification of certain games is still incorrect,
although more reasonable classifications are made now. If some one
could provide me with a more complete ECO PGN database, I am sure I
could make this work with a great degree of accuracy.
