Thanks for the responses! I was able to replicate the problem before, but now after two resets I have not been able to do it again. So for now it is fine. I received swift responses from both ChessGenius and Afterburner folks. The ChessGenius person was not familiar with the problem. The Afterburner developer suggested that Afterburner was not reliable at 29MHz or higher and suggested keeping it set to 28MHz, which doesn't address the issue of why it is happening at "Normal" speed. If it happens again I will try the "Adjust Ticks" setting the other way thanks Betsy PS I'm still only somewhere around 800, at best, so I'm mostly interested in how the game plays at lower levels.
