I just downloaded the source code to Crafty v18.3, but I am having a very strange effect when I compile it on my machine. The v18.3 on Hyatt's FTP will "bench" about 800K nps on the test machine. However, when I compile it with default setting, or even playing around with the setting, it will not go over 430K nps under the bench test. I am compiling with VC++ 6.0 under Windows 2000, using the nmake wcraftyx -f makefile.nt command. Hyatt told me that Eugene N. was the one who compiled the Windows releases of Crafty, however I have no way of getting in touch with him. If anyone here has had this problem, or could possibly give me some ideas, all would be appreciated. Thanks! Slater Wold
