The calculations were made at Fischer 5/10. The ratings are MOSTLY meant to be a
way to compare the strength of the personalities within the game. They are also
(secondarily) meant to approximate "real-world" USCF ratings.

The problem is probably in the portion of the calculation that states that every
doubling of processor speed is worth 70 rating points. This may have been more
valid when CPU speed was a much more important factor a few years ago. Now, with
the kinds of processors that have been mentioned in this thread, it is probable
that successive doublings are worth less and less points.
