Based on my "kibitzing", I do not think that Stefan's success in these tornaments is based on book preparations. Neither do I think that Shredder is so much stronger than Fritz and Gandalf. It seems to me that most of the top programs do occasionally have problems playing strong amateurs. Look at Nimzo and Fritz in this tourney. Shredder on the other hand likes to play amateurs. Therefore, it has good chances to dominate in these kind of mixed events. Whereas in tournaments like Enrique's, where commercial only participate. life seems a bit more difficult for Shredder.
