I am starting a match with Junior 4.6 vs Fritz 5. The match will be played on one P II 300. Each program will get 24 megs for hash tables. I am setting the time controls at 40 moves in 3 hours. This time control should off set the lack of bigger hash tables and no permenent brain function. The autoplayer will be told to only play one game at a time and stop. Each program will use there own book. Each book will be on the hard drive and the values reset for the start of the match, after this the book learners will take over. The Match will end when one program wins 10 games draws not counting. If the score is 9-9 the match will end as draw. I will post all games with time stamp and eval. As World Microcomputer chess champion Junior 4.6 will start off as White. I have not had a chance to do any kind of testing with Junior 4.6. The Cd-rom box says this is World Microcomputer Chess Champion 1997 Junior as an engine for Fritz 5. But will this engine make the same moves and give the same eval as the one in paris? I can not say. This match will give us some long time controls games for Fritz 5. And if Junior 4.6 is close in strength to the paris version. This should be a good test for both programs.
