Last friday my friend Glen asked me if he can use my CM6000 and my AMD Athlon in order to pit these two versions of Chessmaster against his AMD Duron 800 MHz. I agreed to let him play a very short match of only ten games, just to get an idea of how much stronger the new version is. He was very excited to let me know that his newer version of CM8000 which he got for only $14.99 at a bargain was showing an improvement from the previous CM6000 version at a slower time control. I told him that if he would let the match continue for a least 200 games then we can get a better picture, but I was not going to lend him my computer for two weeks, which is the minimum that it would take to test these two programs at that time control. But anyway, I get the feeling that CM8000 is probably 50 rating point stronger using longer time control. Pichard.
