Subject: Gandalf book problem

Author: David Dahlem

I have Gandalf installed under Winboard, CM 8000, and Fritz 6. I have never been
able to get it to use it's own book in any of these. Since the new update
Gandalf432h has supposedly fixed the learning bug, I thought i would try again
to get the book working. I have tried all possible settings and tried all the
tips i have seen here. But Gandalf appears to make the first move without
calculating, then on move 2 it always calculates as if it is out of book. This
is frustrating as the Gandalf book is taking up 8 mb of disk space and i would
like to get it working. Any help would be appreciated.
Here is my init file for Fritz. I have tried it with ponder on\off, analyze
on\off, etc. I have tried turning use book off in Fritz but that doesn't help.

[Parameter]
CommandLine = nodebug xfritz xboard
Engine      = Gandalf
Author = Steen Suurballe / Dan Wulff, Denmark
Debug       = False

[Support]
AnalyzeMode = True
PonderMode  = False
CastleAndEP = False

And this is my current res file settings.

LEARNING 1
DRAW 99 99
CONTEMPT 0
RESIGN 7 6
BOOKPATH c:\chessbase\Engines\Gandalf
HASH 32

Thanks
Dave
