As far as I can tell you are referring to the use of the winboard.eng.
This I believe is a known fact that it happens in some cases.
The autoplayer used to play other programs as far as I have been able to
find out was never proved to produce different results from playing the games
manually.

Also that again ignores Dr. Hyatt's original statement on the subject, which
was relevant to the SSDF changing or using settings or engines not generally
available, which referred to the engine in the released program being different
to the one released with the autoplayer. Not whether the autoplayer contributed
to different results.

This autoplayer issue kinda sidesteps the original statement as were it released
to the public and the SSDF were also using it that isn't a case of the SSDF
doing anything wrong.
