Yes it is.  It's quite a lot of fun trying to create models for the

Probably no stronger... perhaps you mean how much "weaker" the competition
would be?  Difficult to say, but I prefer not to assume everybody with a
strong engine has ripped from Crafty.  Let's have a little faith in fellow
man. :-)

I agree with you here.  It seems there are a lot of Crafty clones floating
around.  How boring. :-)

What does being a professor have to do with his contributions to computer
chess?  But he has made a lot of contributions, no doubt...

There are numerous other programmers (like Kerrigan, Stanback, Dart, etc.)
and several non-programmers (like Steve (ICD), Quisinky (sorry for the
spelling), etc etc etc etc!).
