CM6000 due this fall? Great! CM5500 was my favorite program (before I got Fritz5) but I would like to see a few improvements: - New engine. The CM5000 engine is strong but you do expect some Elo increase with each upgrade. CM5500 had the same engine as CM5000. - *PLEASE*, a better copy-protect... one that doesn't require the CD to be loaded EVERY SINGLE TIME you start the program. Look at Fritz/Extreme... I think their C.P. is the best. - Make it easier to adjust hash table sizes. Currently you have to edit the cm.ini file and the value is cryptic (I think the formula is 2^n, so n=19 represents 500KB, n=20 1MB, etc). - The opening book editor is a joke. I have tweaked a few moves but anything extensive is near-impossible. The ability to generate a new book from a collection of games (like Crafty, Fritz, etc) would be great. *This is my #1 request* Everything else is fine. I hear lots of complaints about its database functions but it's not a database program. It doesn't *have* to compete with ChessBase. Nor does it need to "converse" like Fritz5. Just play great, entertaining chess! (and please keep the new 2D chess set!!)
