Subject: Chessbase 8 Problems with theme keys

There are 2 problems with theme keys.
1) If you open Mega 2001 and switch to general themes then item 13 is Database
Textfiles. If you open this theme key you get a list of items that are all text
reports. If you double click one of the reports instead of getting the text you
get a Board as if you had selected a game. This happens only in the theme keys
and not if you open the text normally from the games list.

2) In Chessbase 7 it is worth noting that if no ELO range is selected the
default is that both players be in the range. Of course since the ELO checkbox
is not marked then this has no effect. Now if a theme key is created under
Chessbase 7 with the ELO box not checked and then that database is opened under
Chessbase 8 and the theme key edited you can see that the ELO shows the range
and the Both item selected. However this is not correct and is misleading since
the ELO specification was never used for the creation of the theme key. In this
circumstance the None box showed be selected not the Both box. A good example of
this problem can be seen in the Mwga 2001 database. Again switch to general
themes. Double click the 01-Special games and check the them key for key 3 Quick
white wins(10-15) 1800-1900 and you wills ee the elo range is 2500-2875 with
Both specifed, However this criteria is NEVER used for the creation of the key.
Now check key 4 Quick white wins(10-15) Elo > 2500 and you will see the ELO key
is specified the same as it was in key 3. However in this case the ELO key
criteria IS used for the creation of ther key.

Hopefully these problems will be fixed in the next CB 8 internet update.

Regards,
	Bill
